SELLING / COMPLETENESS

Can you sell a watch without box and papers in Canada?

Yes—but the missing set changes confidence, replacement cost and the buyer pool differently for every reference.

Identify what is actually missing

Separate the presentation box, warranty card, sales receipt, service records, spare links and reference-specific accessories. Each item supports a different part of the buyer's decision.

02

Start with the watch itself

Reference accuracy, ownership context, case condition, dial, movement and bracelet remain the core evidence. A full set cannot repair a questionable watch, and a watch-only example can still be a valid transaction.

03

Expect the discount to vary

Highly collected, recently produced and configuration-sensitive watches often reward completeness more than ordinary well-used references. Do not apply one universal percentage across brands and eras.

04

Replace missing confidence with evidence

Provide clear watch photographs, a partially covered serial-area view, service documents, original purchase context when available and a transparent explanation of what happened to the accessories.

05

Choose the route that can inspect

A direct buyer or established consignee may handle a watch-only example more efficiently than an anonymous private listing. Compare the lower expected proceeds with the security and inspection process you receive.
